Ekin Üzeltüzenci, aka Ekin Fil, is a lo-fi folk, ambient and electronica artist, hailing from Istanbul, Turkey. Upon arrival in You, Only, the listener is greeted by an adorable piano followed by jolly sweet, yet haunting female voice. Melancholic in every sense, personal, romantic, a homage to lo-fi simplicity, folkish in mentality and approach, moody, emotional and fragile. Minimal, shoegaze studies in introverted beauty. Cinematic and iconoclastic. Flowing images deep and sincere.
Silence expressed with sound, silence with tiny sound sequences, occasionally cut by razor-sharp instrumental climaxes; a few second bursts, then a return to that wonderful, mild, sonic silence. Like waves disturbed by throwing a stone into water, fading circles with occurring colors, mostly blurred and everything covered with an ethereal web, transparent, made out of the finest fabric.
You, Only is a serene ambient album of extraordinary beauty, covered entirely with the veil of emotion. Six slow-paced compositions clocking to 44 minutes, that evolve and dissolve, in an abstract but structured landscape.
